Lavender, Linen, and a Little Bit of Love

Ribbon, lavender, and a little bit of linen

Hello my friends,

I hope all is well with you on this b..e..a..u..t..i..f..u..l fall day today! I thought I would share a little project that I did a while back, but decided to make a few more today - lavender sachets.

I have tons of linen scraps here and there and they (along with vintage ticking, old table cloths, or any natural fiber fabric) and they make the perfect little sachets. I cut the scraps into 3.5" x 3.5" and just fill and sew!

I like the rustic look, so I simply place one piece of fabric onto the other (wrongs sides together). I sew about 1/4" allowance and then fill with buds and carefully sew it shut. Seriously, the entire process takes less than five minutes from cut to shut.

The rough, unfinished edges give a feel of homespun elegance.

A little velvet ribbon tied around a bundle of three...

Makes an elegant and simple gift to thee...

Just "squish" them periodically to release the wonderful lavender scent. Perfect for under your sleeping pillow during the day and at night, remove, flip pillow over, and rest your head on a lovely, soothing scent.

Wishing "thee" a happy and creative weekend!

Hey girlfriend!! I am so happy to hear from you - I love your little messages that you send me now and again. I was thinking of you the other day as I had a friend friend from Texas contact me, and we both agreed I needed to visit - which would mean seeing you as well. Not sure when, but someday again, soon!

Miss you and love you
E

Aaah... those are amazing! I can smell them from here!
The perfect inspiration, this weekend, to make mine. Thank you. I've been wanting to do them for a long time now, with the lavender I bought this summer at the Cotswolds Lavender Farm especialy for this purpose. Yours in linen and ribbon are super stylish.
xoxo
P.S. Haha now when I go for a solo walk in the woods, I ALWAYS think of you and the bear! Still have my sandwich with me though, hoping there are no bears in the Cotswolds! LOL

Hello Monica!

EVERY time I see your little pic of you in a hat, it makes me smile - like Kelly and her pointy shoes. I love that pic of you. I went to your site, and got redirected to a page that didn't open? Do you still have a blog? I laughed when you said you think of that bear story! Speaking of bear stories, there was one recently in NJ - a black bear attacked and killed a hiker. There was a group of 5 or so hiking, and came across the bear and they all ran and scattered. Very sad, but I have learned since my encounter (after researching and watching some bear documentaries) that running is the worst thing you can do - I am so lucky that I ignored my instinct to run - ONLY because of I read in literature just the nigh before about bear encounters. But after reading that story yesterday, I felt a "shredder" yet again - but I am glad you still take your walks - someday, it would be so great to be able to walk with you in your woods. Who knows?
Big hugs

Hello Sandi!
Thank you for stopping by - I always enjoy your visit. I went "shopping" on your blog and loved your latest post with all the goodies. You got me all inspired to get my mess of a porch all ready for fall. May have to redo it again - didn't do it last year. I love how my readers are so inspirational! (I do have the best readers around, I think.)

Lots of hugs

Hi Lin,

Stopped by to read your guest post and it was such a nice recount of your cottage life. The best part of your post, I feel, is the part about having just "enough." I need to live that way more (or rather less - ha) about having just enough and not much more. You are such a great example of living simply. Having less does give more freedom and you are a shining example of that. Thank you so much for sharing.

Big hug

Hi Tina,

What a lovely you comment! I would love that some day, too. BTW, I love your hair and am thinking of growing mine out - getting tired of the same ole, same ole, and your version looks really pretty. And secondly, I love your blog header image - did you take it? It is so pretty. Thanks for stopping by and until we meet, here is a big cyber hug!
